Issues
Having grown up in Palo Alto, I know how wonderful our city is. I am a product of its high-caliber schools, committed nonprofits, active neighborhoods, walkable streets and storefronts, vibrant industry, accessible sports facilities, and inviting open space. The future holds even more for our city. Throughout the campaign, I will be focusing on the following three priority areas, where my experience and commitment will allow me to be an effective advocate:

INVESTING IN OUR INFRASTRUCTURE

Palo Alto faces many necessary infrastructure decisions and it is essential we make them in a fiscally responsible manner. The financing of the projects that improve where we learn, live, and are healed will extend over several generations. That we engage these projects comprehensively and understand their benefits while addressing concerns will not be easy, but in realizing our goals, we can reinforce our belief in a community committed to its own progress.

In the following clip, Yiaway talks about the responsibility of managing the Stanford expansion.

INTERGENERATIONAL EXCHANGE
The demographics of Palo Alto are changing. More retirees are staying in Palo Alto, a testament to the wonderful community we all enjoy. At the same time, young families continue to move in, attracted by the quality of life and exceptional school system. We need to do our part by encouraging social gatherings, conducting policy forums, and developing a community culture where the innovation of our many vibrant generations is brought together.

INVIGORATING OUR COMMUNITY
Environmental activism. Town and gown collaborations. Neighborhood get-togethers. Community service. Business, government, and neighborhood alliances. All are hallmarks of Palo Alto, some past, some present. We need to reinvigorate what we celebrate by conscientiously reaching out to our neighbors and colleagues in ways that strengthen the pride we have in being residents of Palo Alto.
